At What Cost and For Whom?

I often wonder who sits around and make up dumb sayings like 'Keep It Real, Represent and the latest saying 'Stop Snitching'
Is it some white guy at the record company or some movie director saying, "Hey guys could you be a little more "black'? Or the stop an emcee in the middle of a session and say 'Hey you guys Can you Keep it real?"'...
However the term 'Stop Snitching' isn't new, back in the 60's the COINTELPRO hired some of our so-called leaders advisors to snitch and to infiltrate up and coming black power organizations. They used these tactics to crumble and destroy black organization from with in. Today they use the same tactics to destroy Hip Hop! But lets take a deeper look, In todays society crime has reach and all time high in most city's in Amerikkka, in the same breath Hip Hop has reach an all time high as well.
But is this the same hip-hop well all grown to known and love?
I remember in the late 80's to the mid 90's the powers to be were trying to ban Hip Hop because of the messages in the music, it was uplifting the youth, Groups like Public Enemy, Boogie Down Productions, Poor Righteous Teachers and a host of other Hip Hop artist where education the youth thru their music. Groups like N.W.A where speaking on Police brutality in their neighborhoods, Rappers like KRS-ONE Started Groups like H.E.A.L and creating records like the Hip Hop classic 'Stop The Violence' and West Coast artist was doing the same with songs 'Were All In The Same Gang'. Even the Late 2pac was making songs like 'Keep Your Head Up' this embarked a movement in the inner cities across Amerikkka. And the powers to be werent having it! But then came Gangsta Rap, sure it was on the rise during the same time the conscious movement was going on.... But the powers that be saw something we didnt see, They saw that gansta rap could be a great tool to destroy inner city youth and the whole Hip Hop Generation, By promoting this type of music they knew it could dumb down the black culture, promote black on black crime and promote the use of drugs to the young black youth, even to the point of becoming drug dealers themselves. A perfect plan, now all they have to do is find the some artist stupid enough to destroy their race!! Intro 'The Keep it real Syndrome' and it's sweeping the nation!!
The movie industry hired some of hip-hop biggest stars to play degrading roles to sell out themselves as well as their culture. Surprisingly some of Hip Hop most conscious rappers were taking these roles youll get the 'New Jack City's' and the 'Boys In The Hoods' and let's not forget the 'Set It Off's' as well.... Others movies would follow like 'Menace To Society. The Power of Multimedia is in full effect, Gang violence and the drug game increased in the urban neighborhood giving birth to the crack generation up to the lost generation. Rappers today Battle to kill and wearing bullet proof vest on stage, we even lost two of hip hops biggest and greatest emcees of all time like 2pac and Biggie. Todays rappers come straight out of jail into multi million dollar record deals, when the average young gifted rappers can't even get a deal because he's so-called not real or some type of criminal, But now Hip Hop is promoting a new jargon 'Stop Snitching'.
What They Mean By Stop Snitching and To What Level?
Today the crime rate of young black and Latino youth is staggering and very high and alarming rates... More and more babies are being hit and killed with stray bullets, while neighbors turn the other cheek and let this nonsense continue I often her people say " Im not a Rat" or they are simply to scared and fear for their own life. I can't blame them, nobody wants to die, but would they snitch if someone paid them to? However it's straight insane to never step up to the plate and says the b/s has to stop!! Even the punk sometimes fights the bully and often wins... do we live in a society where our people are willing to take a blind eye to the injustices in our neighborhoods? Or did we just give up? The question is what are we being hush, hush to and for whom? Are we saying 'Stop Snitching' to support crimes? Or are we saying 'Stop Snitching' to protect our hoods and our leader that fight for our justice?
Is the Hood Worth Fighting For?
Sure it is, Back in the 60's Black power groups like 'The Black Panther Party' fought to protect our neighborhoods from black on black crime and police brutality in their communities making it safer for our people to walk the streets. But it was the 'Snitches' that help foiled the panthers and other black organization like itself. This led to drug infestations in the neighborhoods and an increase in black on black violence as well as re-welcoming Police Brutality back in our hoods. Brothers Like the late grate Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. and others died fighting the very injustices that we still faces today. We are down playing everything they fought for by protecting the negativities that decay our societies. By saying 'Stop Snitching' to the hideous crimes that take place in our hoods, we are acting in full support of the devilish acts that occur and in simpler terms helping the Devils keep the black man down.
The Bottom Line...
Has the Hip Hop generation fallen off so far in the deep end, that we are willing to promote our downfall? As a culture do we have any integrity? There are so many outlets promoting the so-called 'Stop Snitching Movement' that it could make your head spin, street vendors, websites and recording artist and so on... Now I am not saying be a snitch, nor am I saying stop snitching. What I am saying is, if youre going to snitch, Snitch for a good cause... Like for the betterment of you community and to uplift you culture. Not to help criminals rule over you and kill your babies, and certainly not to help 'The powers that be' to oppress your people.
