Note-This is the same Michael Saunders who steadfastly refused to play local artist when he was the PD in Detroit. His refusal lead to Blackout Fridays-which called for listeners to turn off the radio on Fridays in protest...
Now everyone is wondering who will be next? Could it be former KMEL PD Michael Martin out in San Francisco. He was recently promoted up the ranks, but inside sources say he was just as dirty as Saunders...

Michael Saunders Out At WWPR/New York
R&R has obtained an internal memo from Clear Channel New York
SVP/Programming Tom Poleman to WWPR staff confirming that Michael
Saunders, PD of Urban WWPR (Power 105.1)/New York, in no longer with the
company. The memo also states that Doc Wynter, Clear Channel VP/Urban
Programming, will serve as interim PD at WWPR, officially taking over
those duties on Thursday.
Saunders was one of several programmers mentioned in the Sony/BMG Music
settlement with New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer's office, which
followed an investigation into the record industry and payola.
The settlement stated that in August 2004, Sony BMG arranged to send an
entertainment system including a plasma TV to Saunders' home
address. The settlement also says that a Sony Urban executive "first
sought to falsely account for the transaction as promotional support for
WWPR." The Attorney General's investigators discovered the plan before
the equipment was delivered, and Saunders never received the items.
Yesterday, CC noted that two individuals would be terminated in the wake
of the investigation. However, as of press time, the company has not
named the second person.
